Venerdì 17 marzo 2023 - Le prime elezioni online della storia del mondo del ciclismo hanno decretato che Adam Hansen è il presidente dell'associazione mondiale dei corridori Cyclistes Professionnels Associés (CPA).

Il 41enne australiano ha ricevuto il testimone da Gianni Bugno, che ha guidato il sindacato dal 2010 per tre mandati, ottenendo il supporto di cicliste e ciclisti che hanno partecipato all'odierna assemblea generale del CPA svoltasi alle porte di Milano alla vigilia di Milano-Sanremo e Trofeo Binda. Dopo aver fondato e guidato l'associazione australiana di categoria Hansen compie un altro passo importante nell'interesse dei corridori, diventando il primo presidente del CPA nato fuori dall'Europa. In un ciclismo sempre più globalizzato, l'imprenditore dalle svariate passioni punta a rendere l'associazione mondiale dei corridori ancora più importante e vicina ai propri associati.

«Ringrazio Gianni per il lavoro svolto e prometto di impegnarmi al massimo per elevare ulteriormente la figura del corridore professionista, come ho fatto nel mio paese d'origine dal 2019. La sicurezza in gara insieme alle altre questioni che mi hanno sottoposto i corridori saranno i primi punti su cui voglio lavorare con il consiglio direttivo» ha commentato Hansen, che ha militato nella massima categoria dal 2007 al 2020, registrando il record di 20 grandi giri portati a termine di fila. E ancora: «I corridori avevano chiesto di poter votare da remoto e individualmente, sono felice lo abbiano fatto da tutto il mondo. Chiedo loro una sempre maggiore partecipazione alla vita dell'associazione. Per me sarà un onore rappresentarli, ma il CPA è l'associazione dei corridori, quindi devono essere loro i primi a dettarne la linea».

Gianni Bugno augura buon lavoro al suo successore: «Sono fiducioso che Adam svolgerà un ottimo lavoro. Il nuovo statuto del CPA garantisce una struttura associativa ancora più efficace, in cui le associazioni nazionali continuano ad avere un peso importante e, allo stesso tempo, i singoli corridori possono partecipare in forma individuale alla vita del sindacato. Invito anche io cicliste e ciclisti ad essere sempre più partecipi alla vita dell'associazione, che per me è stato un piacere guidare per ben 14 anni».

«I thank Gianni for the work he has done and promise to do my utmost to further elevate the figure of the professional racer, as I have done in my home country since 2019. Race safety along with the other issues that the riders have reported to me will be the first topics I want to work on with the board of directors» said Hansen, who rode in the top category from 2007 to 2020, and recorded a record 20 completed grand tours in a row. The new CPA president finally commented: «The riders had asked to be able to vote remotely and individually, I am happy they did so from all over the world. I ask them for more and more participation in the life of the association. It will be an honour for me to represent them, but the CPA is the riders' association, so they must be the ones to dictate the line».

Gianni Bugno wishes his successor well in his work: «I am confident that Adam will do an excellent job. The new CPA statutes guarantee an even more effective association structure, in which the national associations continue to have an important weight and, at the same time, individual riders can participate individually in the life of the union. I, too, call on cyclists to be more and more involved in the life of the association, which has been a pleasure for me to lead for 14 years».
