Hamdan Bin Mohamed Smart University (Emirate of Abu Dhabi) - friday 6th february 2026 - Lorena Wiebes continues her winning streak at the UAE Tour Women, taking victory once again in the Dubai Stage and bringing her tally to eight wins out of the fourteen stages in the history of the race. The national champion launched her sprint with 200 metres to go, perfectly led out by her team, and left no chance to Chiara Consonni and Nienke Veenhoven, who joined her on the stage podium. Thanks to today’s success, Wiebes extends her lead both in the Red Jersey classification, where her closest rivals are Lara Gillespie and Chiara Consonni at 14", and in the Green Jersey classification, which she has also won in the last two editions. Zoe Backstedt retains the White Jersey, while Sara Luccon, who was in the breakaway for much of today’s stage, is the new Black Jersey.
STATISTICS A milestone for Lorena Wiebes, as she took her 120th pro victory in stage 2 of UAE Tour. Lorena Wiebes is the first rider with a streak of 3 wins at UAE Tour: she adds to the double this year the final stage of last year’s. Chiara Consonni posted her 5th stage podium at UAE Tour: 2 third places, 3 second places. In the last 3 (stages 1 & 2, 2024; stage 2, 2026: 3rd and twice 2nd) the winner was always Lorena Wiebes. Second podium at the UAE Tour for Nienke Veenhoven after another 3rd place last year in stage 1.
PRESS CONFERENCE Speaking in the press conference, the stage winner and Red Jersey Lorena Wiebes said: "We launched the sprint early but we were forced to do that because the race was quite slow from 15 to 5km to go and it created a big chaos with all trains coming from behind. I lost my teammates then I found them back. Luckily I had my lead out Barbara with me in the last kilometre. Eventually she brought me in a position that I could sprint. When I started my career I wasn’t thinking of reaching a number like 120 victories. It went fast in my career and this is a great start for another season".
